Summer Sunshine...Featuring Lemons Post 2

Summer Sunshine…Featuring Lemons: Post 2

The previous post was all about the fruit fashion fad this summer. This post is to show you how I interpreted that for my own style.

These shoes are from Maurices. They're 6-7 inches, and the tallest pair of heels I own, but they fit my foot. I chose these shoes because they're a neutral color that won't pull away attention from the skirt, but instead compliment it. The skirt is long on me, so the higher heels don't effect how long the skirt appears. #Modestishottest :)

The next part of the outfit is the lemon blouse. This is how I incorporated the summer fruit fad into my outfit. This shirt is made by Elle, a designer that is sold at Kohl's. Elle is one of my favorite brands because it's in some ways, a cheap alternative to Kate Spade. Notice the ruffle front and gathered sleeves, that add the extra adorable that every blouse needs. Here's a view of just the shirt:

To accessorize this outfit I added a sun hat. This hat is also from Kohl's. I was a little nervous about adding a hat to any outfit, but they're totally fun. When buying a hat, remember to check the size of the brim according to your facial features. I chose a shorter brimmed sun hat instead of a floppy hat because I have a smaller, rounder face. You want your eyes to still be a major focus point, even while wearing a hat. Notice the small black bow that makes the hat more feminine.

Now for my favorite part: THE SKIRT.

This skirt was an investment. It's a Leanne Barlow, so it was pretty expensive, but I bought it on Black Friday, so I got 50% off. Always, ALWAYS, look for coupon codes; they will save you tons.

The skirt itself comes in four colors (Red, Mint, Blue, and Yellow), I obviously bought yellow. The skirt has pockets on either side, a reversable bow belt, and is lined. So though it was expensive, it's one of the best buys I've made.

Bow in the back.
Bow in the front.

Unfortunatley it's not on sale.... sorry :)
I hope you enjoyed this post. Comment your questions, and have a FANTASTIC rest of your week.

Summer Sunshine....Featuring Lemons

Summer Sunshine…Featuring Lemons: Post 1
(Stay tuned for Post 2)
This summer Fruits became a big deal in the patterned fashion world. Whether it was pineapples on pants (which will be featured in a future blog post), apple slice necklaces, or mango T-shirts, it seems fruit was all the rage. My favorite take on this fruity fad was a lemon blouse I got from Kohl's. After this purchase I started doing my research on fruity accessories, and came to the conclusion that none other than Kate Spade, my favorite designer, started the hype on fruit. No wonder I liked it so much. :) Here are a few examples of my favorite fruit inspired accessories from this summer:

Sure this backpack is a statement, but wow is it fun! It's fresh and unique and perfect for summer fun activities, or a day by the pool. This item can be found on Etsy.
These umbrella's are adorable and bright. Not only are they funky and fruity, but they can be used in rain or shine. These items can be found on Etsy.

The Following Items are from Kate Spade:
(Warning: Kate Spade is super pricey and sometimes more fun to admire and learn from than to actually buy. Don't feel bad if you can't afford a $500 purse... most of us can't. ;))

This key chain, SO CUTE. I will warn prying eyes that this is probably a $50 key chain, and not worth more than your admiring eyes. The fun part about Kate Spade key chains are the slide and hook key rings. You pull down the area with the imprinted spade, slide the ring til you reach the opening, hook your item, then slide back to close. It's by far the chicest key chain I've ever seen. Worth $50? That's for you to decide.
This tote is the image of summer. Not only is it a perfect size to carry all your summer needs, it's as colorful and juicy red as the real thing. You can buy this tote here.

Unfortunately, Kate Spade no longer sells this particular tote, but I love it because of the bow and pattern. As you will see in the next post (Summer Sunshine...Featuring Lemons: Post 2) this purse would have gone really well with an outfit I already own. Since this purse has a duller pattern, it could be warn with any outfit for any event.

The Following Items are from ModCloth:

This sweet peach crossover is perfect for summer, spring, and possibly even into fall. The coloring is light, but the concept is bright, and that makes for a pretty great purse. Buy it here.
These funky shoes are not only from Modcloth, but also my favorite brand of shoe, KEDS. These pineapple Keds are a fun way to spice up any outfit. Cute or casual? Why not both! Even Keds caught on to the fruit fad. They're also incredible comfy. Buy them here.

I hope you enjoyed this post and it encouraged you to check out fruity fashion, because it's pretty cool. Stay tuned for Summer Sunshine...Featuring Lemons: Post 2. It's coming your way very soon.
