Bringing Back the 50's

Every year my school has a scavenger hunt all over the city where you find clues that lead you to a final destination. Everyone in the school lines up in cars to join the race dressed in costume from head to toe. There's always a theme to base your costume on, and this year the theme was decades. My team, consisting of four of my dearest friends, decided to dress up as vintage housewives.

As you may notice from the picture there's only four of us, not five. My good friend Isabel got sick, so she will not be featured in these pictures.

To acquire the look we wanted, my friends and I decided to each have six basic things: a 50's style dress, an apron, red lips, vintage hair, a petticoat, and of course...PEARLS.

Starting with the 50's style dress, we each bought our own from Amazon.com. They were each about $20, but the most important thing to us was that they shipped in no more than three days. My dress is a red polka dot halter top with a swing skirt.

The next thing we needed were petticoats. Thanks to our wonderful school theatre department we were able to borrow those. Because let's be real, you can't have a 50's outfit without a petticoat! There were also some nice petticoats we found on amazon.

After locating these items, we searched for aprons. Luckily,
one of the moms of our group had made perfect little aprons for a project in the past that she let us use.

Moving on to the details, all we needed now were pearls, red lips, and vintage hair. For our hair, a lot of us got inspired by Pinterest posts
.

Pinterest is also really good about providing helpful tutorials.

For the final pop, I added my Maybelline very cherry lipstick and a strand of pearls. :)

It was a fun night, and thanks to some 50's prep, we all felt adorable.
